California Smog Check Program
FALSE DIAGNOSIS FOR DIESEL VEHICLES WITH EXHAUST BRAKE SYSTEMS
As of January 1st, 2010 diesel powered vehicles are now incorporated into the California Smog Check Program. The program states that “Modified and Add-On Parts” require CARB exemptions through an executive order (EO).
We’ve been informed one of our customer’s vehicles recently failed solely due to the addition of our exhaust brake. This diagnosis is false as exhaust brake systems are exempt from CARB Certification.
If any of your customers fail the California Smog Check Program due to the addition of our exhaust brake they need to file a complaint to the B.A.R. Bureau of Automotive Repair @ 1-800-952-5210.
